Thanks to Cedar Rapids city councilwoman Ashley Vanorny for reminding us about a big event she has coordinated and that she and many other Cedar Rapidians are participating in this weekend.

Saturday, July 13th is the annual "Ride the Districts" event. It's a fun way to "help people navigate the various biking lanes and road types throughout Cedar Rapids. Committed to seeing the event grow and helping others familiarize themselves with the bicycling infrastructure across the city".

The ride will explore every quadrant of the city, highlighting current and future trails primarily on the City’s south side

Stops and points of interest along the tour include Czech Village Kayak Launch, Tait Cummins Sports Complex, Shack Tavern, Roller Dam, Old McDonald’s Farm, Prairie Park Fishery, Smoke Stack Bridge (Connect CR), and Kickstand. Depending on your skill level and interest, you can take a 7-mile tour or a longer 24-mile ride.

Riders will meet and check-in at 8:30 Saturday morning at the corner of 11th Ave. and 2nd St. SE in Cedar Rapids ("Lot 44"), the ride begins at 9 and is expected to wrap up sometime around 2.

If you're interested in participating, it's free but you must register by this Friday, July 12 at this link, where you can also get more information.
