A New Raising Cane’s Location Has Opened in the Corridor
Iowa City now has its very first Raising Cane's! According to a new article from the Corridor Business Journal, the popular chicken chain is officially open in the Old Capitol Town Center.
Raising Cane's is a fast food restaurant that was founded in Louisiana back in 1996. It specializes in chicken fingers and sides, like coleslaw, crinkle cut fries, and Texas Toast, all served with their famous Cane's Sauce. It is also known for its freshly-squeezed lemonade and freshly brewed iced tea, both sweet and unsweet. The menu may be small, but it hasn't stopped Raising Cane's from skyrocketing in popularity these past few years, especially here in Eastern Iowa!
The new Iowa City Raising Cane's is located at 201 S Clinton Street, the former home of Freddy’s Frozen Custard & Steakburgers. The CBJ reports that the restaurant has a Hawkeye theme, and plans to host a live DJ on weekends and game days this fall. At the grand opening celebration on Tuesday, August 27th, the restaurant awarded 20 customers with free Raising Cane's for an entire year, and donated $1,000 to the Iowa City Animal Care and Adoption Center.
Raising Cane's now has three locations here in the Corridor. The other two are at 2800 Commerce Drive in Coralville and 230 Collins Road NE in Cedar Rapids. There are additional Eastern Iowa locations at 201 Viking Plaza Dr in Cedar Falls and 2725 E 53rd St in Davenport. As of 2023, there were more than 700 locations nationwide.
