Friends and patrons of a popular downtown Cedar Rapids coffee shop will be seeing some changes to their favorite place in the near future.

While it hasn't been announced that they are shutting their doors altogether, the current owner of The Blue Strawberry Coffee Company is reportedly retiring, according to a story in the Gazette.

Mike Monahan has been in charge at the Blue Strawberry since 2003, and is moving to northwest Iowa to spend more time with his family. His coffee shop had been among the businesses who survived the devastation of the 2008 flood and continued to thrive.

Monahan is putting the shop up for sale, and hopes to see it continue in its current or similar form under new owners, per the Gazette.

Good luck to Mr. Monahan in his retirement and as we all look forward to seeing what new owners will bring to the space at 118 Second St. SE, we should all make a point to stop by to wish him well, grab a muffin, bagel or panini and of course, a cup of the Blue Strawberry's delicious coffee in the coming weeks.
