Posh accommodations will continue with a change in its look at a popular hotel for Kinnick Stadium gameday fans to stay at on football weekends, basketball overnights and more. According to the Cedar Rapids Gazette, on August 18, just in time for the start of the first post-COVID football season, the 57,588 square-foot city-owned Marriott Hotel and Convention Center will transform into the "Hyatt Regency Coralville Hotel and Conference Center", owned by Marcus Hotels & Resorts.

The Coralville Marriott has been a recognizable staple of Coralville and Iowa City for travelers and visitors since its opening in 2006 and survived and withstood the 2008 flood. Aside from the name and management change as well as a few renovations to be made after the re-branding in August, city officials say not much will change. The brand transition is also being made just in time for event season to gear up at the new Xtream Arena, also part of the Iowa River Landing.

Coralville City Administrator Kelly Hayworth said in a statement,

their experience, innovation, and leadership in hospitality, particularly in the Midwest, will be an asset to the city and to the hotel’s guests. Their focus on individual hotel properties and communities sets them apart.”

For its part, Marcus Hotels made a statement touting its deep roots in Big Ten country and noted "we are looking forward to the start of a long and productive relationship with the City of Coralville and to working with Hyatt to delight our guests and deliver continued operational excellence for this market-leading hotel.
