You won't find a better place to take your kids on Halloween, and they'll probably learn a thing or two.

The 44th Basic Cedar Rapids Regional Police Academy is about to graduate 14 recruits, on November 4, and Halloween evening they'll all be at Sunner Park in Cedar Rapids, handing out treats.

Candy will be handed out from 5:30 to 7 p.m. on Halloween and there will also be police cars from the Cedar Rapids, North Liberty, and Tipton Police Departments. The Cedar Rapids Police Department bomb truck and Area Ambulance Service will also be there.

Sunner Park is located near 8th Avenue and Valor Way Southwest, just east of the Cedar Rapids Police Station. It's named after Bret Sunner, a Cedar Rapids policeman killed in the line of duty in 1984.

The regional police academy not only represents the three police departments above, it also includes the Cedar Rapids Fire Department and Department of Corrections.
