Pizza War: Iowans Defend Their Slice Against Pennsylvania Critics
If you're looking for information about anything, you can find it, and often, that information will include reviews of those products. Now that you're asking, people are happy to share their opinions on just about anything.
Take a look at YouTube. People are building their lives by reviewing or giving their opinions on just about everything, and it works for some but not for others. Sometimes, though, opinions can be a bit sharp, and if you're trying to take something down, be careful—others might have their knives out, too.
What Did They Say About Iowa Pizza?
If you're reviewing something or just looking for a rumble, verbal or otherwise, insult something from another state. That will usually get people's verbal jousting started.
I'm a fan of the many Iowa pages on Facebook. You can find out all kinds of information. Sometimes it's topical, often with breaking news about why the police or fire department are whizzing by, and many times it's just reminiscing, but it's all fun to see.
Recently, I was perusing the Iowa pages and came upon a post that was trying to rabble-rouse, and a few Iowans had some thoughts. The premise is that Iowa doesn't have any good pizza, and Pennsylvania is way better when it comes to the combination of sauce, cheese, and dough.
I don't know if that pizza is actually from PA or not, but that is what several comments targeted. Here are the exact words that were used, and I quote: "Ima just say it, the Pizza from PA is better than pizza from Iowa."
If you just grabbed your chest because that thought is an assault on the senses, well, others were thinking the same thing. Is this an insult to your taste buds, implying that the pizza you enjoy has no validity?

The idea seems ludicrous, and here's what a few Iowans had to say about the pizza in question, as well as Iowa pizza in general:
"Uh, pizza, I'm not seeing that I'm seeing a mess, What YOU Need is Need Pizza from Cedar Rapids!"
"If you're willing to go to Mount Vernon, Lincoln Wine Bar has a really nice woodfire stove that makes wonderful pizza. Probably the best pizza this side of Iowa."
Those are just two of the numerous responses given about how wonderful pizza is in Iowa and how PA doesn't hold a candle to it. They also said other things, but we left most of those comments out (most, not all). You can see them below:
