A flight that originated from Chicago's O'Hare International Airport heading for Phoenix made an emergency landing last night at The Eastern Iowa Airport in Cedar Rapids.

United Flight 483 departed Chicago at around 9:30 p.m. running about an hour and a half late. Once the plane reached 28,000 feet, the Boeing 737 made a turn over Washington County in eastern Iowa and headed towards The Eastern Iowa Airport. The plane landed in Cedar Rapids shortly before 11 p.m. Numerous emergency vehicles and personnel were standing by as the plane landed safely.

There is no official word on why the planed made the emergency stop. People who were on the flight took to Twitter and said that the plane suffered from engine problems and that everyone on board was staying over in Cedar Rapids Monday night.

United Airlines' media relations department has yet to comment on the incident. Stay tuned for further updates as information becomes available.
