Pheasant Season Opens This Saturday
Almost 60,000 hunters are expected to take part when Iowa's pheasant season opens this Saturday.
The Iowa DNR is predicting a good hunting season for Iowa pheasant hunters. The DNR's survey of pheasants found an average of 21 pheasants per 30-mile route statewide. The 2015 statewide average was 24 pheasants per 30-mile route.
Todd Bogenschutz with the DNR told the Globe Gazette, “it appears much of our corn and beans will be out of the fields by the opener, which will concentrate birds to grass areas and make hunters happy. If we have good weather, I think we could see a bump in hunter numbers and birds harvested.”
