A New Ramen Restaurant is Now Open in the Corridor
121 N Linn Street in Iowa City's Northside Neighborhood is home to a unique new restaurant! Paper Crane Ramen Shop & Cocktail Lounge has officially opened its doors.
Paper Crane Ramen Shop & Cocktail Lounge is not your typical ramen restaurant. According to the website:
"Our menu showcases ramen classics—meticulously crafted over 3 days before reaching your table, rice dishes and small bites drawing inspiration from street vendors, and tradition inspired favorites to make your time with us unforgettable."
Some of the small bites on the menu include Gyoza, Okonomiyaki, Menchi-katsu, and Karaage. They also have a couple of dessert options, including Milk Buns and Mochi Ice Cream.
In addition to the ramen restaurant, Paper Crane is also a cocktail lounge, and the Cedar Rapids Gazette reports that the two are separated by a floor-to-ceiling curtain. The Lounge at Paper Crane offers "a more relaxed and intimate setting" and different menu options. There is a craft cocktail menu, as well as a small bites menu with items like Squid Skewers, Yakitori, Edamame, and Fried Fishcakes. You can check out everything available on Paper Crane's menus HERE.
Early reviews for Paper Crane Ramen Shop & Cocktail Lounge say that the restaurant is "exceptional" and "a revelation." A Google review from user Catherine Woodman says, "the ramen is perfect, both the broth and the noodles. Second to none," and user Makya Brimeyer writes that the food is "a masterclass in modern culinary artistry that transcends the conventional boundaries of ramen cuisine."
According to the official website, Paper Crane offers their ramen menu Sunday, Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. and Friday & Saturday from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. The Lounge is open Wednesday through Sunday from 5 p.m. to midnight.
