A New Ramen Restaurant is Opening Soon in the Corridor
The folks behind a popular Iowa City restaurant are preparing to open a new eatery next month! Get ready for Paper Crane Ramen Shop & Cocktail Lounge!
According to a press release from the Iowa City Downtown District, Paper Crane Ramen Shop & Cocktail Lounge is coming soon to 121 N Linn Street in Iowa City's Northside neighborhood. The space was previously home to Marco's Island, Linn Street Cafe, and Bashu.
Paper Crane Ramen Shop & Cocktail Lounge is owned by Sam and Riene Gelman, who also own the Webster at 202 N Linn St. They have teamed up with another person who has strong ties to the Webster, Edwin Lee, who will act as the Chef Partner of the new restaurant. The press release reads:
"Lee’s menu will bring a dynamic range of ramen offerings, including both traditional and seasonal selections, to a city where this style of cuisine has been underrepresented."
In addition to the full-service ramen restaurant, Paper Crane will also have a cocktail lounge with a "moody, sophisticated ambiance." The lounge will have a cocktail menu, as well as a menu with appetizers and small plates. It is expected to open sometime in mid-October.
