After around eight years in business, a Mount Vernon business has revealed some bad news. Palisades Cafe, located at 117 First Street NW, is now closed.

Palisades Cafe was a highly-rated restaurant that offered "inspired bistro fare in a casual, family-friendly environment." It had a 4.6-star rating on Google and was recommended by 88% of Facebook reviewers. The closure was announced on Monday, August 26th on social media with a very short and simple post. It reads:

"Due to continuing staffing issues we are unable to provide the service and quality of food our customers have come to expect. As a result, we have made the difficult decision to close the restaurant. We thank our customers for dining with us the past eight years."

Customers in the comments on the Facebook post have expressed their disappointment at the announcement of the closure, with user Mary Haack Tiedemann writing:

"We have many special memories of fun times and delicious meals. You will definitely be missed."

Another user named John Rife said:

"This is a big loss for our community. Such a great place with wonderful food and staff. Thanks for all you’ve done and all the best to everyone that’s been involved"

It appears that Palisades Cafe's closure was immediate, which means that customers will not have the chance to say goodbye to the restaurant. It is listed as closed on both the official website and Google.
