The Best Brunch in Iowa Can Be Found in the Amana Colonies
Who doesn't love a good brunch buffet?!
Using reviews and online rankings, Cheapism published a list of the best brunch spots in all 50 states. I'm happy to report that an Eastern Iowa restaurant was ranked #1! Congratulations to the historic Ox Yoke Inn in the Amana Colonies!
Brunch is served every Sunday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. and costs $24.99 for ages 11+ and $12.99 for ages 5 to 10. Children 4 and under can eat for free with a paid adult, or for $5.99 without. You can make a brunch reservation at Ox Yoke Inn HERE.
Ox Yoke Inn was opened back in 1940, but the building its located in is much older. The main building was built in 1856, and the restaurant's website says that "co-founder William Leichsenring was born in 1908 in the room that today is known as the Amana Dining Room." Although dinner no longer costs 65-cents, the restaurant is still going strong in 2024!
If you're a big fan of the food served at Ox Yoke Inn, you can actually purchase an official cookbook with classic recipes from the restaurant. It includes 67 different dishes, including fried chicken, Uncle Vinny's Meatloaf, oxtail soup, spaetzle, potato dumplings, honey apple pork loin, and pie crust. Our Recipes Our Story is $30.99 and can be purchased at Ox Yoke Inn or online HERE.
