
Overnight Shooting in Iowa Kills Three Teenagers
Des Moines Police have released the names of three teenagers killed in what's being described as a triple homicide late Thursday night.
Authorities were called to the 600 block of East Hackley Avenue at about 11:20 p.m. Thursday evening after someone arrived back at a duplex and found three people dead,. All three had been shot.
Des Moines Police have identified the three victims as 19-year-old Devonte Swanks, his 16-year old brother Malachi Swanks, and their 15-year-old friend Thayne Wright. The Swanks brothers lived in the home where the shooting occurred.
No information on a suspect has been announced in the case. Early this morning, Des Moines Police Sergeant Paul Parizek told KCCI, "Our first impressions are, this is nothing random. We don't believe there's any danger to anyone else in the community."
There have now been six homicides in Des Moines this year. Four of them have been teenagers. 14-year-old Josiah Woods was killed on New Year's Day.
