When we meet our Furry Friday dogs they come from a variety of different settings. Many are rescued from overcrowded shelters. Some are owner surrenders looking for a new home. The most difficult situations to hear about are ones involving neglect and abuse. Our little pal Louie has been down that path. Louie is a Doxiepoo who is around 12 years old and his story might make you cry.

He was rescued by Last Hope Animal Shelter in Cedar Rapids from a town in Eastern Iowa. He was found wandering the streets by police. They tracked him to his owners through his microchip. Louie was in horrible shape. His hair was long and in dreads. His nails were so long and untrimmed he could barely walk. He had an abscessed tooth that was so bad the open sore was visible. How anyone could do this to another living creature is beyond me. Needless to say, charges are pending against his former owners.

Louie is currently in foster care but would love to find his forever home. He gets along well with other dogs but would do best in a calm and peaceful home. He's been through so much, he deserves nothing but the best. Contact Last Hope for more information on our little pal Louie.
