The next time you have a special occasion to celebrate, you may want to make a visit to Iowa City! According to a recent article from Love Food, Orchard Green is the #16 best restaurant to celebrate a special occasion!

Located at 521 S. Gilbert Street, Orchard Green is described as "premiere fine dining." Love Food's article reads:

"Book a table in the upstairs area of Orchard Green for a true sense of occasion. While the downstairs bar space has a more casual vibe, upstairs it's all vaulted ceilings and chandeliers and is the perfect setting to feast on elegantly prepared dishes like sea scallops with charred broccolini, bouillabaisse, and sweet potato gnocchi."

Chef Bryan Herzic opened Orchard Green in Iowa City in September of 2009. According to the website, it specializes in "gourmet classics and innovative American-Mediterranean cuisine," and everything is made with fresh, seasonal ingredients. The current menu includes entree options like Braised Duck, Filet Mignon, Vegetable Risotto, Lamb Shank, Sea Scallops, Shrimp & Sweet Potato Gnocchi, and Chicken Bucatini. There are also a number of appetizers, boards, soups, salads, and desserts.

The dining room at Orchard Green is open Sunday through Thursday from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. and Friday & Saturday from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m., but there's also a lounge area at Orchard Green that is open Sunday through Thursday from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m. and Friday & Saturday from 3 p.m. to 10 p.m. The lounge offers a special "small plates" menu that's available Sunday through Thursday beginning at 4 p.m. It includes burgers, falafel, fish & chips, and a Mediterranean cheesesteak. There are also Happy Hour specials from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday through Thursday, like $2 off glasses of wine and $3 select drafts and domestic bottles.
