No Lack Of Diversity At 2016 SAG Awards

Much has been made of The Academy Awards being void of any minority acting nominees. Prominent celebrities like Spike Lee and Will Smith are boycotting the awards because of it. The 2016 Screen Actor's Guild Awards held this weekend showed that diversity is alive and well in Hollywood after all.

There were numerous black actors and actresses that took home top prizes at the SAG Awards. Viola Davis won for best actress in a TV drama for her role in 'How to Get Away with Murder'. Uzo Abuda took home the trophy for best actress in comedy series for 'Orange Is The New Black'. Queen Latifah won for best actress in a TV mini series for 'Bessie'. And then there is one of my favorite actors, Idris Elba.

He took home two trophies, one for outstanding supporting male actor for the Netflix film 'Beasts Of No Nation', and then another for best actor in a TV mini series for his role in 'Luther'.
