What’s New Now That ‘Wells Fargo Arena’ Has Become ‘Casey’s Center?’
Earlier this summer, Casey's officially took over the naming rights of Wells Fargo Arena in Des Moines. With two big country concerts coming up next month, I was curious about what, if anything, has changed at the arena since the transition to the new name. As it turns out... not much!
The Changes
In addition to a new name and new signage, the only other thing that concert-goers at Casey's Center will notice is a change to the food. After all, you can't name a venue after Casey's and NOT serve Casey's Pizza! You can find Casey's Pizza and other signature snacks throughout the different concession stands, as well as at a new quick-service stand. Called "Casey's Grab & Go," the area is across from the stairs at the south entrance to the arena near Section 124. Offerings include whole pizzas, chips, candy, and other Casey's brand products.
Now, are the prices of these foods the same as they are at your local Casey's gas station? Probably not. The first time I visited Little Caesars Arena in Detroit, the company's signature Hot-N-Ready Pizzas were NOT $5, which was the price you could get them for at regular Little Caesars locations at that time. But hey, that's the price of going to a concert/sporting event.
Oh, and in case you're wondering... no, Casey’s Rewards points CANNOT be earned or redeemed at the Casey’s Center.
The History
Back on July 12th, the arena celebrated the 20-year anniversary of its grand opening and ribbon-cutting ceremony. It opened as Wells Fargo Arena in 2005, but in October of 2024, it was announced that Casey's would be taking over the naming rights in 2025. According to an article from the Des Moines Register, Casey's paid $18.3 million to keep the name for the next decade.
Upcoming Shows
As I mentioned above, there are quite a few big concerts and comedy shows on the Casey's Center schedule. Here are the remainder of the upcoming events in 2025:
- Jason Aldean - Friday, September 19th
- Breaking Benjamin & Three Days Grace - Tuesday, September 23rd
- Eric Church - Saturday, September 27th
- Adam Sandler - Saturday, October 4th
- Jonas Brothers - Sunday, October 5th
- Brandon Lake - Thursday, October 9th
- Paul McCartney - Tuesday, October 14th
- Gabriel Iglesias - Sunday, October 19th
- Bert Kreischer - Thursday, December 11th
A friendly reminder: Casey's Center has implemented a bag policy for anyone entering the venue, and it's now a cashless facility, meaning that you can only pay for concessions with debit, credit, and gift cards. Read more about both of these policies HERE.
