For the last week or so, my entire Facebook newsfeed has been full of talk about a new Netflix movie called 'Bird Box.' I originally had no desire to see the film, but because of all the hype (and the hilarious memes), I broke down and watched it. I know there are a lot of strong opinions on the movie, but I'm not fiercely for or against it. I thought it was simply entertaining! Plus, I really love Sandra Bullock.

If you haven't watched the movie yet, here's the synopsis according to Google:

"When a mysterious force decimates the population, only one thing is certain -- if you see it, you die. The survivors must now avoid coming face to face with an entity that takes the form of their worst fears. Searching for hope and a new beginning, a woman and her children embark on a dangerous journey through the woods and down a river to find the one place that may offer sanctuary. To make it, they'll have to cover their eyes from the evil that chases them -- and complete the trip blindfolded."

Now, if you are one of the people who hasn't seen 'Bird Box,' this is where you should stop reading. THERE ARE SPOILERS AHEAD. You have been warned.

After I finished watching the movie, I read a very interesting article online. I didn't realize that 'Bird Box' is actually based on a novel by Josh Malerman, although there are some differences between the movie and the book. The biggest difference is the ending. In the movie, Malorie and her children wind up making it to a sanctuary, which turns out to be a school for the blind. Pretty satisfying ending, right? Well, it could've been a little bit creepier. According to an article from Pop Buzz:

"In Malerman's novel, Malorie and the kids make it to the safe place but inside, they find that everyone had forcefully blinded themselves in a bid to stay safe."

The director reportedly altered the ending to make it a little more positive and hopeful.

Overall, I enjoyed 'Bird Box.' What did you think of the movie? Let us know your thoughts in the comments!
