Native Iowan Wins 2019 WWE Royal Rumble
Born and raised... Iowa.
WWE Superstar Seth Rollins (born Colby Lopez) was born in Buffalo, Iowa and has a home in Davenport. Sunday night he won the 30 man over the top rope Royal Rumble for a chance to go on and wrestle in the main event at Wrestlemania against a champion of his choosing. This is just the 3rd time the Iowan has been a Royal Rumble match and his first time (in 2014) he had the shortest time in the ring at just 2 minutes. This year, he entered at number 10 and spent a lot of the match outside the ring (legally) recovering after being put through an announce table. But in the end, he eliminated Braun Strowman winning the Royal Rumble match.
Rollins started his career in 2005 in the independent circuit and it only took him five years before he made his debut in the WWE. Rollins won his first heavyweight championship by cashing in the Money in the Bank contract at Wrestlemania making it a triple threat match and walking out with the title. He will return to headline Wrestlemania Sunday, April 7th at MetLife Stadium in Rutherford, New Jersey.
Here is Seth's first championship win:
And one of the notorious videos of Seth Rollins is from his time on the independent circuit when he did a back-flip (moonsault) off a fan.
Congratulations on the 2019 Royal Rumble winner, Iowa's own, Seth Rollins!
