More Bear Sightings In Eastern Iowa [PHOTOS/VIDEO]
Bear sightings are on the rise this week in Iowa. Yes, bears in Iowa. They've wandered down our way many times before, but this week they're getting a lot of attention and being photographed by a lot of people! The Iowa Department of Natural Resources confirms two bear sightings in Eastern Iowa this week. The first was in Grundy County and is thought to be a 2 to 3-year-old male bear.
The DNR says that young male bears like the one pictured above will often roam into Iowa from Minnesota and Wisconsin. They are primarily looking for two things. Food and females. A young male bear can cover a lot of space in a short amount of time. But once they find an area doesn't have what they're looking for they typically will move on.
The DNR added that if you do spot a bear to leave it alone and give it space. Black bears aren't typically aggressive and shouldn't cause too many problems if left alone.
