Major League Baseball player Adam LaRoche retired this week, walking away from a 2016 salary of $13 million. Why did he do it? Because the team he played for, the Chicago White Sox, wanted him to keep his son out of the clubhouse. LaRoche chose family over baseball.

To be fair to the Chicago White Sox, they didn't ban 14-year-old Drake LaRoche from the clubhouse altogether. But they DID request that Adam cut back on the amount of times he brought his son to the ballpark. Drake had traveled with his father for the past several years, and the according to a story, last year the White Sox even referred to him as their '26th man'. But sources said that management requested that LaRoche cut back on bringing Drake to the ballpark. It was an easy choice.

LaRoche got plenty of support from current and former teammates. They said that Adam was a great teammate, father and husband. Many players also noted that his son Drake wasn't a burden in the clubhouse, noting that he would clean cleats and even help out during drills.
