Death Certificate Reveals Cause of Death of Missing Iowa Trucker
David Schultz, a truck driver from Wall Lake, Iowa was last heard from on November 21st, 2023. His red and white semi was found abandoned in the middle of the road. His wallet and cell phone were still inside. His mysterious disappearance was covered by media outlets around the world. What happened to this married father of twin boys?
The Cedar Rapids Gazette reportsThe Gazette reports that according to David Schultz's death certificate, the cause of death is listed as "Hypothermia In the Setting of Acute Drug (methamphetamine) Intoxication." The medical examiner went on to say in his report that Schultz "ingested the drug and was exposed to the cold." The Gazette reports that overnight temperatures the week Schultz disappeared were in the low 30s. The following week they fell to the low teens.
Based on the results of the autopsy, the medical examiner ruled out homicide and the case of the missing Iowa truck driver is considered closed.
