A difficult weekend has ended in tragedy for a Marshalltown family, members of a community that has certainly seen more than its share of tragic news lately.

18-year-old Jazmin Reyes Reya, who had autism, went missing Friday and has been found dead today. She took off from her home Friday after getting upset about something. Reports say her body was found at around 10 a.m. on Monday in a remote area of the Iowa River, about 500 yards Northwest of the North Center River.

Investigators say there is no evidence of criminal activity in the case and no press conference is being held. No other public information is available at this time.

It is still an active investigation. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Marshalltown Police Department at 641.754.5725.

As the Marshalltown police department releases further details, we will update you. The public is being directed to Police Chief Michael Tupper by calling 641-754-5771 or via email at mtupper@marshalltown-ia.gov for further questions at this time.

Our thoughts are with the family of this young woman, as they request their privacy at this time.
