Owners of Midwest RV Dealership Facing Massive Amount of Charges
The owners of a Midwest RV dealership are facing a slew of charges, with more added just days ago.
Douglas and Sara Bras are the owners of Fremont RV Center in South Sioux City, Nebraska, which is just south of Sioux City, Iowa. Combined, the pair now face an astonishing 94 charges.
According to the Lincoln Journal Star, Douglas Bras is facing 44 different charges, including 37 that were levied against him late last week. They include theft by deception, selling or disposing of a motor vehicle without delivering a title or VIN number, knowing and intentional abuse of a senior adult, bad checks, conspiracy, theft by unlawful taking, second-degree forgery, and aiding consummation of a felony. He is scheduled for arraignment next Tuesday, June 21.
Shara Bras has 50 different charges against her, including 35 filed last week. She faces many of the same charges as Douglas. She is due to appear in court today.
Douglas, 61, and Shara, 56, were both initially arrested in April. The Lincoln Journal Star says following their arrest, more than 50 different customers of Fremont RV Center called South Sioux City Police. All of the callers claimed to have been defrauded by one or both of the Bras.
South Sioux City investigator Joaquin Orduno told the Lincoln Journal Star that the people who called the department said they had either bought or sold a camper or RV through Fremont RV Center. Some customers claimed to have never received a title for their purchase, while others said they were paid checks that wouldn't clear due to insufficient funds. Other customers said that the dealership had sold their RVs and they hadn't been notified. Orduno says additional charges are possible as the investigation continues.
Fremont RV Center's Facebook page says it's an owner-operated dealership that's been in business since 2003.
