The Midwest can be a very beautiful place!

According to an article from Travel & Leisure, America's National Park System has 425 national park sites, but only 63 of them have the "National Park" designation in their names. The National Park Service website lists a total of eight national parks here in the Midwest. Other sites include "preserves, monuments, historic parks, heritage areas, trails, rivers, and more." Here are the eight parks, plus a few lakeshores and preserves that show off the Midwest's beauty:

I believe the only place on this list that I've been to is the Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore. I attended a summer camp in Michigan's Upper Peninsula for many years, and I remember our day trip there vividly. My brother's camp got to spend a week on Isle Royale, which is even cooler!

This summer I will be visiting Badlands National Park in South Dakota for the first time with my family, and I could not be more excited. And even though it's not in the Midwest, I'll also be taking a trip to Arizona in February to see the Grand Canyon for the first time. I can't wait to see it!

Which of these national parks, preserves, and lakeshores have you been to before? Let us know and send us your photos using the station app!
