Small, Family-Owned Mexican Restaurant Opens in Downtown Cedar Rapids

There's a new restaurant to try in Downtown Cedar Rapids! Mi Lindo Vallarta Mexican Restaurant has opened at 529 5th Ave SE.

Mi Lindo Vallarta is a family-owned business that has moved into the former home of Runt's Munchies, which relocated to 118 2nd Street SE back in 2022. The tiny restaurant officially began welcoming customers on Sunday, August 4th.

The restaurant doesn't appear to have a website or Facebook page yet, but a photo posted to the Cedar Rapids Area Support Local Group says that the hours are Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. It also notes that the first two baskets of tortilla chips are complimentary.

Although Mi Lindo Vallarta has only been open a few days, the first reviews of the restaurant are incredibly positive! A post on the Cedar Rapids Area Foodies page from Caitlin Reid reads:

"Went to a new Mexican place that just opened yesterday and it was amazing! Staff who is a family was lovely, service was fantastic, and food was delicious! No alcohol license yet but they said it is in the works. Said tomorrow they are having 1.50 tacos for taco Tuesday!! Go check them out!"

Another review from Google by user Kaitlyn Silver says:

"The service was amazing and the food was even better! Stopped by for a quick lunch today and really enjoyed it!"

Photos of the menu posted on Google show that lunch options are available Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., and dinner is served all day. Items include burritos, enchiladas, chimichangas, fajitas, seafood dishes, quesadillas, vegetarian options, and more.
