Fans of Maren Morris and Ryan Hurd were thrilled to hear the news that the couple is engaged, Morris admits that the proposal was definitely a surprise.

Sitting down with CMT Hot 20 Countdown host Cody Alan, the "80s Mercedes" hitmaker reveals that when Hurd asked her to marry him, she wasn't all glammed up for the big moment — she didn't know it was coming.

"I really had no idea," she admits, sharing that she was wearing sweatpants and glasses at the time. "I really did not look cute at all, that's how I knew he was serious," she adds, laughing.

Morris revealed that Hurd had popped the question in a simple Instagram post on July 9, with a photo of her sitting on his lap with a Corona in one hand and a gorgeous rock on the other, along with a series of other sweet photos of the two of them cuddling after the big moment.

Though the "I Could Use a Love Song" singer already has CMA and Grammy awards under her belt, Hurd is an up and coming singer-songwriter himself, penning Lady Antebellum's latest hit, "You Look Good," as well as "Lonely Tonight" by Blake Shelton and Ashley Monroe, in addition to his own tracks like "Love in a Bar," which was inspired by his fiancee.

"This is a hard thing to do and it’s not glamorous. Every time I want to quit, she tells me how close I am. She does my career with me and I do mine with her. In chasing my career, I feel like it’s part hers," he says of Morris.

Morris is currently opening for Sam Hunt on his 2017 15 in a 30 Tour.
