Major Fire at Unity Point on Cedar Rapids’ NE Side
Cedar Rapids firefighters were called to Unity Point Health Clinic at 3851 River Ridge Rd NE Wednesday evening shortly after 6:00 p.m. to battle a blaze at the two story facility.
Iowa's News Now reported that fire crews were contacted at 6:07 p.m. and that "half of the second floor" was in flames - with most of the windows blown out by the blaze.
It was reported that two people were inside the building at the time of the fire but both escaped without injury.
The Cedar Rapids Fire Department was assisted by Hiawatha fire crews and were expecting to be on the scene for an extended period of time into the night.
