Luke Bryan is a superstar in his own right, but he still holds sincere admiration for the fellow 'idols' he sits with on the American Idol judging panel, Katy Perry and Lionel Richie.

While the country star has been longtime friends with Richie, he's in the process of getting to know the "Firework" singer, but in the time they've spent together, he has nothing but respect for her, describing her as "very truthful."

He and Perry are both in the midst of touring while also finding the next music star on Idol, but he says that no matter how exhausted they may be, Perry is always a consummate professional.

"She shows up and she's locked in. I couldn't have any more respect for her. She certainly knows when to be one of the guys and she certainly knows when to flex pop star muscle, which is pretty cool," Bryan raves.

"Me and her and Lionel do dissect the talent very similarly. It's hard for us to feud because we really, really see what's going on. The only thing we're going to feud in is whether one of us is just wanting to gamble with a contestant."

The "Fast" singer has equally glowing remarks about the legendary Richie, who dabbled in the world of country music with his 2012 duets album Tuskegee and collaborated with Bryan in the past. The country star explains that it's Richie's undeniable star power, coupled with his kind nature, that makes him such a worthy role model.

"There are several things that are really, really inspiring about him. His heart is gold, it truly is," Bryan notes, adding that it's Richie's valuable "knowledge and life experiences" that make him so sincere.

"When you see him interact with these kids, these babies singing, you see the passion."

The American Idol reboot is set to hit ABC in 2018 on March 11.
