Lucky's on 16th is Adding a Covered Patio, Rooftop Dining, & More

Lucky's on 16th in Cedar Rapids' Czech Village is undergoing some major upgrades! The popular restaurant will be getting several new additions over the course of the next year.

What's Being Added?

According to Heather Armstrong, the owner of Lucky's on 16th, the first big project the restaurant is undertaking has already begun. When you're entering Lucky's from the back parking lot, you may have noticed an attached garage that sits directly to the left of the patio. That building is also owned by Heather, and that garage is being transformed into Lucky's on 16th's brand new kitchen!

Once the kitchen is complete (the current ETA is early 2027), the next, even larger phase of the project can begin. First, the former kitchen at Lucky's on 16th will be removed, and then that space will be turned into a party room and a covered patio. The other big change will be the addition of a ROOFTOP bar & dining area, a first for the NewBo & Czech Village District. Heather estimates that it will be finished in the early summer of 2027.

Will the Restaurant Close During Construction?

NO! Heather wants to ensure Lucky's on 16th customers that the restaurant will not close during construction. They've been planning this project for years now, and have made sure that regular business will not be impacted. You'll still be able to order all your brunch favorites while the expansion is taking place!

When is Lucky's on 16th Open?

Lucky's Lofts
