Local Merchant Launches Backpack Giveback for Students

It’s Back to School time and the big box stores are already filled with school supplies.

This is usually a time of excitement and anticipation for kids, but it can be stressful for parents on a budget who wonder how they're going to provide all the needed items for their kids to start school.

Marie’s Jewelry and Accessories in downtown Cedar Rapids is stepping up with a charitable campaign called the Backpack Giveback.

It's an opportunity for folks to drop off a new or gently used backpack (or other school supplies) to be donated to Cedar Rapids Public Schools.

Customers with donations can stop by Marie’s Jewelry and Accessories at 125 3^rd Ave. SE in downtown Cedar Rapids, and donate any supplies for kids of all ages.

They're open Tuesday through Friday 10:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. and Saturdays 10:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. (Closed Sundays and Mondays)

As a special bonus, everyone can enter to win a Back to School $100 gift card from Half Price Books. There’s no purchase, no donation necessary to enter and win.

The Backpack Giveback runs from July 23 until August 2 at Marie’s Jewelry and Accessories at 125 3^rd Ave. SE in downtown Cedar Rapids.
