Local and State Authorities Investigating Suspicious Death of Palo Woman
The Benton County Sheriff's Office and other law enforcement entities from the state of Iowa are investigating the death of a 58-year-old Palo woman. Authorities call her death suspicious.
According to the Iowa Department of Public Safety, the Benton County Sheriff's Office did a welfare check at a home in the 3300 block of 64th Street in Palo last Friday, July 15. They found Jodie Bevans deceased inside the home. According to information provided by law enforcement, "based on the condition of the scene and the suspicious nature of her death, the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation and the Iowa Department of Public Safety’s Criminalistics Laboratory were called to assist with the investigation."
The Iowa Office of the State Medical Examiner performed an autopsy on Sunday. Those results, and the cause and manner of Bevans death, have not yet been released.
In addition to the Benton County Sheriff's Office, the incident is being investigated by the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation, Iowa Department of Public Safety's Criminalistics Laboratory, Benton County Medical Examiner's Office, and Benton County Attorney's Office.
