Little Big Town Hope to Write With Miranda Lambert, Collaborate With Pop Artists
Little Big Town have just released a new single, "Summer Fever," and they had plenty more going on when they stopped by the Taste of Country Nights studio to talk about their new song.
LBT singer Karen Fairchild wrote the song with Jesse Frasure, Cary Barlowe and Sam Romans, and she says the other members of the group signed on immediately when they first heard it.
"We don't push our songs on each other," Fairchild tells ToC Nights producer Amber Atnip. "I played it and if they like it, we talk about it and if not, we move on, so they loved it."
10 Best Summer Songs Ever
Little Big Town will spread summer fever all across the country when they hit the road with Miranda Lambert this summer on their joint Bandwagon Tour, which launches July 12 in Charlotte, N.C., and runs through Aug. 24 before wrapping up in Clarkston, Mich.
They are looking forward to hopefully doing some writing with Lambert on tour.
"We'll probably do some writing," Phillip Sweet affirms. "And jamming. We're going to be playing a lot of songs together onstage, too, so we'll be together a lot, probably making music. Writing has definitely been one of the things we've talked about doing. We write on the road a lot."
The group scored a huge hit with "Better Man," which Taylor Swift wrote. They say they're open to the possibility of collaborating with a mainstream pop artist for their next album, with Fairchild mentioning Tori Kelly, Andra Day and the Backstreet Boys as artists who have an appreciation for country music.
"We haven't gotten that far into the process yet," she states. "We've been talking a little bit about it. The great thing about country music right now is that people on the pop side of the business are really watching what's going on, and they really love it ... I mean, who knows? Collaborations just happen if they're supposed to happen, and so we just kind of let the creative process lead the way."
