When deputies arrived, they found two adult females that were deceased. They had died from gunshot wounds. Following an investigation at the scene, including the interview of a witness, the Linn County Sheriff's Office said there was no danger to the public.

The women's bodies were taken to the State Medical Examiner's Office in Ankeny for autopsies.

Thursday morning, the Linn County Sheriff's Office (LCSO) identified the two women killed as 68-year-old Debra N. Mayfield and 43-year-old Karie J. Mayfield. The LCSO says both women lived in the home.

No other information was released and the Linn County Sheriff's Office says the investigation remains ongoing. We'll update this story if more information becomes available.
