Lee Brice’s New Single to Debut January 2020
Lee Brice is talking new music—and his upcoming single, “One of them Girls,” is set for a January 9, 2020 world premiere.
The country singer is hot off his No. 1 single “Rumor,” as well as fall 2019 releases “Welcome to the Weekend” and “I Hope You’re Happy Now,” a duet with Carly Pearce.
It’s a sign of things to come, as Brice tells Taste of Country he’s settling into a groove of continuously releasing new music.
“I’ve got a thousand songs I want the world to hear tomorrow, so I love the fact that it’s getting to where it’s not just that you can put out as much music, you really need to,” Brice said a recent media roundtable in Nashville. “Kids these days and people these days—when they hear something they like, they like it for a minute and then they want something else they like. So it’s either gonna be somebody else putting out something they like, or you putting out something else they like. And I like that, because I have plenty to go around for a long time.”
Brice, who’s co-penned some big hits including “I Don’t Dance” and the aforementioned “Rumor,” is also a writer on “One of them Girls,” which was a last second add to his summer recording session.
“We had three songs picked out to record a couple months back when we were going to record our first single, and we didn’t know which of the songs it was gonna be," Brice said. "I got together with [writer/producer Kyle Jacobs] the night before the recording and about 3:30AM, I sent a work tape over and said, 'By the way, I wrote this tonight.'”
Jacobs, who was also at the roundtable, added, “After listening to 400 songs, I’m like, 'Are you kidding me? You’re doing this to me right now?' We had plans for what we were doing for the day, and then all of the sudden this drops in first thing in the morning.”
Brice felt so strongly about the song that he had to record it, describing it: "It's tempo, it’s real, it’s fun, but it’s got some meat to it."
Brice is scheduling to release a full-length album in spring 2020 with "One of them Girls" as the lead single.
