When you're named after country singer David Allen Coe, you're bound to be an outlaw yourself someday. Koe Wetzel is just that, blending country with rock and grunge, and creating his own unique sound. That sound is headed back to Iowa in 2026!

Who is Koe Wetzel?

Koe Wetzel was born in Pittsburgh, Texas. He got his start singing thanks to his mom, who was a touring country singer. She would take Koe with her on the road. His first time singing on stage was at the age of six. As with many country stars, football was his first love. Wetzel played linebacker at Tarleton State University in Stephenville, Texas. But in the end, music won out, and Koe began crafting his sound.

Koe Wetzel and the Konvicts

Yes, that was the name of Koe Wetzel's first band. The EP 'Out on Parole' was released in 2015 and became popular with college students due to its rowdy lyrics and topics. On the next album, the Konvicts' name was dropped, and Koe Wetzel was born. The albums 'Noise Complaint', and 'Harold Saint High' followed. After Wetzel signed with Columbia Records in 2020, he released the album 'Sellout'. He released 'Hell Paso' in 2022, but Koe's career was about to hit overdrive.

9 Lives Album Takes Koe Wetzel to Country Radio

In 2024, Koe released his album '9 Lives'. The debut single Damn Near Normal peaked at #29, but the song High Road became one of the year's biggest hits, giving Koe Wetzel a #1 hit at country radio. The album would be certified gold, and personally, it was my most listened to album last year.
