It's tough to be out of work or looking for new opportunities under normal circumstances. That difficulty has been multiplied in the midst of a pandemic. Online sites still make it easy for job-seekers to learn about openings but applying and interviewing for them has significantly changed and some are left wondering how to go about it in the "new normal".

Zoom interviews are now prevalent, but job fairs, those opportunities for numerous employers and job-seekers to all meet up in one place, have been lost due to social distancing.

KCRG reports on a pair of events hosted by Kirkwood Community College for those seeking these opportunities, with drive-through job fairs taking place this week. They are partnering with IowaWORKS and Iowa Vocational Rehabilitation Services today (Thursday, November 5) to host an event at Eastdale Plaza in Iowa City. This event runs from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. People attending will stay in their vehicles (with masks on) to obtain information from employers taking part.

A similar event happens in Cedar Rapids this Friday, November 6, at Lindale Mall in the parking lot near the old Sears store. It will also take place from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

You'll learn about not only job openings but educational and training opportunities at these free events. Visit this website or call (319)621-6682 for more information.
