If you’ve been hoping for a new Spirit Halloween store right here in Iowa, the good news is the national retailer is expanding big in 2025, and we have several locations currently open.

The not-so-good news? Iowa won’t be getting a new Spirit Christmas store this year.

According to a recent report, Spirit Halloween is opening more than 1,500 stores across North America for the 2025 Halloween season, but they won't all convert over to Spirit Christmas stores.

What is Spirit Christmas?

Much like for Spirit Halloween stores, the chain continues to use short-term leases in vacant retail spaces, which allow it to ramp up quickly ahead of the spooky season, and now the Christmas season.

These seasonal pop-ups will offer holiday décor, apparel, gifts, inflatables and immersive experiences like Santa meet-and-greets or “Peppermint Villages” inside the stores.

Where Will Spirit Christmas Have Stores?

For shoppers in Iowa, though, there’s a catch: no new Spirit Christmas store has been confirmed in the Hawkeye State for this year, as mentioned earlier.

So, if you have to check one out, you'll have to travel.

That means Iowans will likely need to shop online or visit stores in neighboring states if they want the full in-person experience this season.

Stores are expected to open in states including Connecticut, Delaware, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, and Pennsylvania.
