Downtown Cedar Falls has been buzzing with businesses moving in and out of the area. We shared with you last month that Carter House Market & Cafe closed its doors mid-September "temporarily." A week later David's Taphouse & Dumplings shut down as well.

A few new places have opened up in the area this month as well. Big Açaí, an açaí bowl franchise opened in Cedar Falls last week. News of another new spot came out a few weeks ago. This business will be opening right on Main Street next year.

Lawn City Beer Co. will be a new brewery/restaurant from the same people behind George's Local in Cedar Falls (the latter has a business relationship with Iowa City brewer Big Grove).

"From those who brought you @georgeslocalcf comes your new favorite local spot, Lawn City Beer Co. Lawn City Beer Co. will proudly be serving in-house made brews along with quality hospitality and food.''

The name for this new establishment, is an homage to an old nickname for Cedar Falls, which just so happens to be a bit of a tongue-and-cheek jab at the neighboring city of Waterloo.

Cedar Falls got the nickname "lawn city" after the area started to get all of the bells and whistles from being a college town

The brewery is looking to fill multiple positions including: head brewer, head chef, and general manager. If you're interested in any of these positions, you can check out their website here.

Lawn City Beer City Co. is expected to open up in the summer of 2023. It will be located at 315 Main Street where the old Scratch Cupcakes used to be. For more information on the business opening, make sure to check out the brewery's website.
