It's been a hot minute since we last saw the Eastern Iowan back on our tv screens. Season 16 winner of 'American Idol', Maddie Poppe, announced that she would be making an appearance on the penultimate episode of the season.

The Clarksville native appeared on the Road to the Finale special that aired Sunday, May 15th on ABC.

For this cameo, Poppe had to put away her microphone and pick up her measuring tape.

Poppe let show producers take a look around her home in Nashville that she is currently renovating all by herself.

"I don't really have a choice but to do it on my own..." Maddie said during the segment, "...but that's what makes it so great. There's a sense of instant gratification."

If you follow the singer/songwriter on Instagram you'll know that she takes her DIY projects very seriously. She'll even post polls asking for input in advice. Most importantly, she's pretty good at it!

From the looks of this pre-produced segment Maddie has already added an electric fireplace, is installing a sliding door, and has "destroyed the bathroom."

Not in that way...

She looked pretty comfortable being back in front of the camera, and seems knowledgeable about this sort of work to be able to possibly host her own HGTV show.

While there won't be any television show called 'American Drywall' airing on ABC anytime soon, Poppe does have a plethora of new music out right now with even more on the way!

In late March the singer released 'Screw You A Little Bit' which is a more mature and honest song than some of her previous work.

"This one really, really cuts deep with me because it's very honest to a situation that I went through," Poppe explained.

"I am 25 now and I feel I want to be able to write about those experiences, and I want 25-year-old girls who are going through the same thing to relate to it. And it's not necessarily about trotting through the wildflowers anymore."

On May 11th, Maddie dropped a funky, disco-inspired pop song called 'Good Enough To Let You Go.' This new track was written more than a year ago with songwriters David Spencer and Bryan Simpson.

You can listen to the full song here!

Maddie Poppe confirms that there is even more new music on the way, but we don't have a specific date yet for new singles or a possible album.

Make sure to follow the station across social media for the most up to date information on music releases.
