Iowa’s Big Grove Brewery Has a New Beer That Will Help Plant More Trees
Here we have a classic case of being able to enjoy a few adult beverages while also helping to positively contribute to society.
Where I'm from, we call that a win-win situation. You can help support an Iowa business and help add more trees across Iowa's landscape. Big Grove Brewery has teamed up with Trees Forever to help more trees get planted in Iowa.
400 Trees
The next time you're at your favorite Big Grove Brewery location or you're grabbing a 6 pack from your favorite liquor store, throw a few of these in your cart! Good Grove "is back as a fruited lager, with a crisp and light mango flavor, with a hint of pomegranate."
A portion of Good Grove purchases will be put towards planting more than 400 trees across Iowa, according to CBS Iowa. 400 trees is the goal with a focus being placed in Cedar Rapids. The 2020 derecho is responsible for wiping out around 65% of the trees throughout the city.
Hannah Coyle is the Cedar Rapids Event Manager and she spoke to CBS Iowa about making Cedar Rapids a better community for everyone.
"We are committed to being active participants in this community, working every day to make it a better place for everyone to live, work, and play. Our city has faced many challenges, from floods to derechos, but these initiatives offer a way to restore and rebuild the beautiful landscape we all cherish."
Planting more trees throughout the state of Iowa will help restore the tree canopy and will also help increase the overall biodiversity, reduce carbon emissions, improve air quality, and create a better community.
Nick McGrath is the Trees Forever East Central Iowa Field Coordinator and he also spoke to CBS Iowa about the importance of adding trees across Iowa's landscape.
"Our partnership isn’t just about planting trees. It’s about planting them in places that promote community and outdoor activity. It’s about planting the right tree in the right place and providing the right care so they can thrive in challenging urban environments. And it’s about enhancing the resilience of our tree canopy through species diversity."
Trees Forever and Big Grove are trying to help as many Iowa communities as they can, one tree at a time.
