There are people who make poor decisions, and then, there's this guy.

Jose Javier Flores, a 32-year-old man from Des Moines, was arrested early in the morning on Monday, August 15. This was after he admittedly drank 12 Twisted Teas and decided to get behind the wheel of a vehicle. The alcohol content of Twisted Tea is five percent.

He not only drove while intoxicated, but he also did it with his four-year-old daughter by his side.

According to WHO13, he's now being "charged with operating while intoxicated and child endangerment."

The story continues: "A Des Moines police officer saw Flores operating a vehicle near SE 30th Street and Scott Avenue, then found him 'passed out' at a traffic signal, a criminal complaint said."

His daughter was in the passenger seat of the vehicle, without a seatbelt or any sort of restraint. She was not in a booster or car seat, either. The Polk County Inmate website adds that he will face charges due to the girl being unrestrained.

After several attempts to wake Flores, law enforcement at the scene was able to get his attention. Officers told WHO13 that "he had slurred speech and smelled strongly of alcohol."

The Des Moines man refused all sobriety tests that police tried to administer.

Ultimately, he was booked into Polk County Jail at 1:30 am on Monday.

I'll finish the story with a quick rant, that I'm sure everyone is thinking.

Driving drunk is stupid enough -- but to put the life of a child on the line is a whole extra level of evil. Let alone your own child. Here's hoping his little girl gets the love and care she deserves and learns from her father's mistakes.
