Whatever side of the aisle you find yourself on, it's pretty cool any time those of us in small-town Iowa get the chance to meet a large political figure.

I had the opportunity to see Bernie Sanders on campus at UNI when I was in school, and that was dope. I no longer agree with his political beliefs, and I would much rather see a Dan Crenshaw, Tulsi Gabbard, or Ron DeSantis speak, but nonetheless, I find those events interesting.

Folks in the Cedar Valley will have a chance to experience such a thing coming up later this month when former Vice President Mike Pence will be visiting Waverly.

As shared by KCRG, Pence will be in attendance when the Republican Party of Bremer County hosts its annual Grill and Chill on August 20 at Waverly-Shell Rock Middle School.

The Cedar Rapids-based news station says that "The annual fundraiser barbecue is expected to feature speeches from the former vice president, Speaker of the Iowa House Pat Grassley, and Representative Sandy Salmon."

Tickets for the event will be $40 a person, but children 12 and under can attend for free. A catered meal will be provided by the Bremer County GOP.

You can buy your tickets, here.

The former governor of Indiana, Pence served as the country's VP under President Donald Trump from 2017-2021.

He's also been considered to be a candidate to run for president in the upcoming 2024 presidential elections.

As written by Deseret News, "Journalists and political analysts have noted Pence’s visits to important states, including Iowa and New Hampshire, as an indication that he will seek the Republican nomination for president in 2024."

Pence also said this himself, when speaking with the New York Times, unwilling to rule out a 2024 presidential run:

We’ll go where we’re called.
