Inside the Heartwarming Story of Wisconsin’s Giant Snowman and Its 2026 Comeback
Every year since 2019, the residents of Milltown, Wisconsin and surrounding communities look forward to winter for one very big reason: Jeffery the Snowman.
The History of Jeffrey the Snowman
Every winter, the small town of Milltown, Wisconsin comes together to build a massive snowman to bring the community together on a project that makes everyone smile.
The original Jeffery was built in 2019 by Craig Carlson of Carlson Construction as part of a local contest. He was a labor of love for Craig and his two sons who named their 19-foot snowman Jeffery as a way to honor Craig's brother Jeff who passed away 6 years before that.
Since 2019, Jeffery the Snowman has not only grown MUCH taller each winter, but he has also become a full-blown community effort that helps provide scholarships for seniors in Polk County, Wisconsin.
In December, the 2025 edition of Jeffery the Snowman debuted at a whopping 67 feet tall...
Then a few short weeks later, the rain and mild temperatures arrived, and sadly, Jeffery did not survive.
By December 31, Jeffery looked like the Leaning Tower of Snowman...
and by January 1, 2026, Jeffery was gone.
All the community's hard work and high snowman hope may have collapsed in an instant, but they aren't ready to say goodbye to Jeffery yet and are asking for help.
Help Rebuild Jeffrey the Snowman
It only took Jeffery the Snowman's Board of Directors a few days to decide that he needed to be rebuilt, but the cleanup and path to rebuild has not been an easy one.
A fundraiser campaign with a goal of $3,000 was started to cover the costs of rebuilding Jeffery, and they just reached it today. The process of bringing Jeffery back to life will begin this weekend with hopes to have him ready for our viewing pleasure in a few short weeks!
If you'd like to visit Jeffery the Snowman for yourself, just head to 215 Eider Street in Milltown, Wisconsin. He may not stand quite as tall as he began this winter, but I'm still willing to bet he'll be hard to miss. Enjoy!
