Iowa School Bus Monitor Tried to Hypnotize Kids, Asked One to Take Clothes Off
A 32-year-old Blue Grass, Iowa, man has been sentenced to two years in prison after pleading guilty to attempting to entice a child under the age of 16. He could face additional prison time in a separate case involving another child in Muscatine County.
Incident Involved a School Bus
Nicholas K. Munger was working as a bus monitor for Durham Buses, which provides transportation for the Davenport Community School District, when the incident occurred.
According to court records cited by KWQC, video showed Munger sitting next to a student on a bus on May 4, 2021. Munger later told police he was trying to hypnotize the student. The student also reported that Munger touched him inappropriately over his clothing.
The investigation became public in 2023, when Munger was charged with possessing an image of a minor engaged in a sexual act. In March 2024, he faced additional charges related to the 2021 bus incident.
Separate Case Involves Another Child
Munger is also facing sentencing in a separate Muscatine County case involving an incident in 2024.
According to court records cited in local reporting, the case involved allegations that Munger attempted to hypnotize another child and asked the child to remove clothing. Munger pleaded guilty in March 2026 to attempted enticing of a minor under the age of 16.
He could face an additional two years in prison in that case.
Sex Offender Registration Required
In addition to his two-year prison sentence in Scott County, Munger will be required to register as a sex offender.
Munger was scheduled to be sentenced in Muscatine County on Monday, October 19.
