According to a new poll, here are the Fall activities that Americans are looking forward to the most:

10. Playing tricks on friends, family, or neighbors

A little harmless Halloween mischief made the Top 10! Maybe it's a spooky surprise, a silly prank or... a little toilet paper decorating someone's yard? Just remember: keep the tricks harmless and make sure everyone can laugh about it afterward.

8. Taking a child trick-or-treating

Watching kids run from house to house in their costumes, yelling "trick or treat!" is one of the sweetest parts of Halloween. Just make sure you have a comfortable pair of walking shoes... those little legs move FAST.

7. Visiting a pumpkin patch

Hayrides, pumpkins, corn mazes and plenty of photo opportunities make a trip to the pumpkin patch feel like the official start of fall. Plus, you get to bring home the perfect pumpkin!

6. Dressing up in a Halloween costume

Halloween is your yearly excuse to be absolutely anyone or anything you want. Go spooky, silly, cute, creepy or completely ridiculous. Bonus points for a costume that makes everyone laugh.

5. Carving a pumpkin

Pick the perfect pumpkin, grab a carving kit and get messy! Whether you create a traditional jack-o'-lantern or attempt an elaborate masterpiece, pumpkin carving is one of those fall traditions that never gets old.

4. Handing out Halloween candy.

There's something fun about opening the door and seeing a whole parade of tiny superheroes, princesses, monsters and ghosts. Of course, let's be honest... eating some of the Halloween candy yourself is also an important part of the job.

3. Putting up Halloween decorations

It's time to make your house a little spooky! Pull out the ghosts, skeletons, pumpkins, fake spiderwebs and everything else you've been hiding in storage since last Halloween.

1. Watching scary movies was the most popular answer.

Grab the blankets, turn off the lights and pick your favorite scary movie. Whether you love a good horror movie or prefer something spooky-but-not-too-scary, a fall night just feels better with a movie marathon.

And just missing out on the Top Ten was going on a hayride . . . and going to a haunted house.

Two classic fall activities came very close: going on a hayride and visiting a haunted house. Apparently, Quad Citians love their Halloween traditions... but scary movies still reign supreme!
