Beloved Unique Cedar Rapids Pizza Joint Permanently Closing Soon
There is shocking and sad news for patrons and fans of a beloved NewBo pizza joint that has been open since 2018.
According to KCRG, the owners of Fong's Pizza, who also own the business in Des Moines, say they will close on November 5. In a statement to KCRG they said:
We love serving this great community. Unfortunately, our lease is at its end, and with the uncertain future of the economy, it did not make sense for us to renew at this time
The restaurant came to Cedar Rapids in 2018 and is located at 1006 3rd St. SE. If you've never been to Fong's, the Cedar Rapids and Des Moines locations are known for their unique styles. They are the home of the "original Crab Rangoon pizza". They are also known for its Thai Chicken pizza, Chinese Cheesesticks, and Raspberry Cheesecake egg rolls.
In addition, there is a location in Ankeny at 1450 SW Vintage Pkwy #120. Neither it nor the Des Moines location will be affected by this closure.
