When internet weather personality Ryan Hall speaks, millions listen. That's why it would be wise to understand exactly what he's just predicted for the upcoming winter in Illinois which could include up to 40% more snow this winter.

Ryan just shared his first outlook for the upcoming winter months and what he had to say about Illinois is interesting. He said that Illinois will be at the forefront of the states in the northern plains that see an "arctic invasion".

He said that the computer models he's following seem to infer that Illinois could see anywhere from 20 to 40% more snowfall. Ouch.

He goes on to say that Illinois will likely see more Alberta Clippers this year than normal meaning fast-moving low pressure systems from Canada. Ryan also says Illinois should watch out for more lake-effect snowfall than normal.

One other thing to note. Ryan believes that winter may start off mild, but that it will likely "end with a bang" with winter storms expected in late February into early March.

Overall, he expects 2 to 3 significant winter storms to create lengthy disruptions to life. He described the types of snow storms that people talk about 20 years later. It's important to emphasize that Ryan says he does these advance winter outlooks mostly for fun and that we'll know a lot more as we get closer to winter. We'll find out soon enough if the patterns he sees developing become reality or not.
