August 31st is only about 6 months away!

That's the date of the first Hawkeye game of the season down in Iowa City, but it will also be the kickoff for the 2019 class of University of Iowa Kid Captains. And it's a good year to take part, because the program is celebrating its 10-year anniversary! Their website reads:

"Kid Captain is a partnership that began in 2009 between UI Stead Family Children's Hospital and the Iowa Hawkeyes to honor pediatric patients and celebrate their inspirational stories."

If you know of a brave, inspirational child under the age of 18 who is currently being treated or has been treated at the University of Iowa Stead Family Children's Hospital, now is the time to get them nominated for the honor. There are a few restrictions you need to be aware of, though. For example, only the parents or legal guardians of a child may nominate them, so be sure to let them know about the program if they aren't already aware! The site also states:

"Children of any age may be nominated as an honorary (away game) Kid Captain. Due to sideline safety concerns, only children who will be 6 years old or older by November 2019 may be nominated as a home game Kid Captain."

Each chosen child will not only receive special recognition from the Children’s Hospital and the Hawkeyes, but also a commemorative jersey and an invitation to a behind-the-scenes tour of Kinnick Stadium in August.

The deadline for entries is Sunday, March 17th at 11:59 p.m., so get those nominations started now by clicking HERE!
