It’s Official…Gander Mountain Won’t Open New Cedar Rapids Building
You figured it wasn't a good sign when the Gander Mountain signage came off of their new building on Blairs Ferry Road earlier this week. Yesterday, we finally got confirmation that the outdoor retailer would NOT be using the newly built location.
An attorney for the company told the Cedar Rapids Gazette by email that "Neither Gander Mountain nor Gander Outdoors will occupy the building at 1215 Skylee Drive in Cedar Rapids. Therefore, the signage has been removed." The email also confirmed that a Camping World shop will also not move into the building.The 52,000 square foot building is officially up for lease.
Gander Mountain filed for bankruptcy back in March. Camping World purchased the company in May with plans to rebrand it as Gander Outdoors. The former Gander Mountain location at 2140 Edgewood Road SW in Cedar Rapids also sits empty.
